Channel Identification for Block Transmission

In this paper, we first review popular schemes for block transmission within the framework of affine precoding. We then briefly present existing channel identification techniques that only rely on the redundant symbols introduced by these block transmission schemes. We then present the major contribution of this paper, which is a new stochastic channel identification method suited for Non-Zero Padded (NZP) block transmission, a special case of Known Symbol Padded (KSP) block transmission. This new stochastic method is iterative and takes into account both the knowledge of the padded symbols and the expected structure of the unknown data symbols. We compare this new method with existing channel identification methods for block transmission. Experimental results show that the new method performs better than the existing ones and has a lower complexity.
